Industry Reviews

Mark is a fantastic producer who is committed to quality product. He is reliable, accessible, down-to-earth, and trustworthy. I've worked with him on a couple of his productions as a guest instructor/performer, and have always been pleased with the way things worked out. What he promised was always exceeded by what he delivered. I can't wait to work with him again.

I'm extremely impressed with Mark's dedication to both art and education. He invited me to do several guest-artist classes in his summer theater program, and each time I was the one who came away inspired. Mark has stayed true to his roots, teaching at a high professional level to community college students with few other opportunities. He constantly develops new programs to further his goals. He is kind, creative, and one of the hardest-working individuals I know.

As I write, Mark is back in the Appalachian hills working with the young people he inspires by bringing talented teachers with him for a few weeks each summer. Devoted to them as they are devoted to him, he brings the very best out of youngsters who have little or no background in the dramatic arts. Last summer I witnessed rehearsals and the final performance of a weeklong residential camp he ran for children and teenagers at an area liberal arts college. Part of his strategy was to show them that they too could navigate a campus and aspire to college. Parents, teachers, and friends marveled at the change in his students in one brief week. Year after year he returns, finding and growing talent, and showing for many a way out of poverty. A man to be reckoned with where young people are concerned.

Mark is one of the best dialect coaches I've ever seen! His ability to teach singers is spot on too! Very talented expert indeed. I must also mention that he's loyal, trustworthy and super caring.

When it comes to dialects and all around singing, Mark Salyer is superb! He's also really great with musical theatre.
