Intro to Magaly’s Holistic Acting Class

The process I am going to share with you is a self-awareness process, which leads to a more malleable more receptive instrument. The quicker you can identify the personal blockages that are manifested by external and internal triggers …the quicker you can own the success that is your right as an actor.

Your spirit, mind, and body - these are the tools/instruments you are working with as an actor. So, if you have blockages which are impeding your from fully realizing moments of truth in the work that make for a great performance…a great audition…you need a spirit, mind, body technique which make those obstacles nothing more than a distant memory.

Your mind is so powerful. We will reference the emerging research on the neuroplasticity of mind – a field of study that affirms that we have the ability to alter the structure and function of our brains, which then allows us to alter our daily lives. We will employ ancient (yoga, pranayama breathing, affirmations, mantras) and modern techniques (The Feldenkrais method, creative visualization, etc.) with one aim – to recharge your mind, and reignite your brilliant create energy.

This process involves learning and adopting a series of daily exercises designed to change your mind, and therefore your career. Change your mind, and therefore change your approach to acting. Change your mind, and therefore change your life.

Success requires a few key ingredients – desire, love, and faith. If you have a burning desire to change your life; if you have a deep-seated love of the craft; and if you have faith that you were born to touch the hearts and minds of people – then you have the most elemental characteristics to change your life and your career with my guidance.

Albert Einstein, one of the greatest minds of our times said, “doing the same thing and expecting different result is the definition of insanity. “

You deserve a different result. Join me and try something new.

Magaly is a dream. She taught me how to use what I already had, showed me what I didn't know I had, and got me headed in the right direction in regards to commercial acting very quickly, and in a way that was integral to my values. I actually started booked good paid union jobs not long after working with her. We worked together on and off over the course of several years and I look forward to working with her again.

Magaly is a fabulous inspiration to many, including myself! She always has new creative ways to solve any problem you may bring to her with great enthusiasm. I hardly ever use the word extraordinary, but that encompasses her work ethic and the essence of who she is! Magaly is fun, challenging and wonderfully smart, it is always such a pleasure to work with her!

    Industry Reviews

As a first time writer, I took a big risk the evening of Saturday, June 18, 2011. Never hearing my words spoken out loud before, Magaly refuted every ounce of fear and doubt I had in my work. Her words were penetrating and filled with emotional truth. A powerhouse actress, months later people still ask me who was that woman? I received feedback from people who didn't know me or the story, but they knew a passionate, fiery actor when they saw one. That actor was Magaly. I thank her for molding herself into my character that night, lifting her voice from the page, giving it as a gift to everyone in the room that night.

It was so fun to work with Magaly during the shooting of the show BN4Real. I admire her unrelenting drive and energy on such a huge endeavor and her strict attention to detail. She made sure than when we walked off you had the feeling of having had a fun, rewarding and accomplished day. I hope to work for her again and again.

Camille is fantastic. I have been coaching with her on guest stars, series regulars, and films for both comedy and drama. She is not only a great teacher but also a super talented actress with an impressive resume. Not only does she now help me with my work, her and I did 22 episodes on the air together. She knows so much about tv and film, that she can pinpoint the tone and what the show runners are looking for. I would absolutely recommend coaching for possible jobs, current jobs, or even just for practice in between work. And I recommend Camille.
    Jonathan G.
I came to Camille for some much needed Career Coaching and wow, she is a swift kick in the pants (in the very best way possible)! In just a few short months of working with her, I have secured theatrical representation, gotten a manager and booked a film role playing the wife of a very well known actor. Prior to meeting her I was agent-less, stagnant and feeling helpless. She is incredibly straight forward and fast to action. She knows the business from so many angles and had a game plan for me that actually worked. She is realistic, honest and works sooo hard. I feel so grateful to her. If you (and your career) need a boost, Camille is the way to go!
    Molly K.
I have been coached by Camille for several years. She reads auditions sides like music! She can find the flow and the notes and the little hidden gems that make you stand out in a room! I will continue to work with Camille. She is also an amazing actress so working sides with her is a plus and a must!
    Abby w.
Camille is amazing! I'd recommend her to any actor. She knows the business and is excellent not only as an accomplished actress in her own right, but also as a teacher. She is absolutely a joy to work! If you want great career advice or coaching she's my number one pick.
    Danielle S.
Camille is an excellent acting coach. She has been working with my eleven-year-old son for over a year and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about her. She knows the business inside and out and understands exactly how to coach an actor to do their very best in any audition situation. I have recommended Camille as a coach to many of our actor friends (youth and adult) and every single one has loved her. If you need to brush up your skills, prepare for an audition or booking or just continue to learn and grow as an actor I recommend Camille one-hundred percent.

Time flies but I’ve known and worked with Graham for over ten years now. His acting is incredibly passionate with a great range of vulnerability and facility in drama and, though not explored yet by Hollywood, comedy! He is deeply caring, gracious, and earnestly fascinated by the craft of acting, both in himself and others. As a coach, Graham has a unique gift of seeing beyond the text into the intrigue and mysteries of character. A mandate of Graham’s is that we need to get out of our own way and let the audience/auditor do the work, instead of us doing it for them. That’s when truly memorable performances take place. A high bar but one he holds himself and others to.
Joanna Glushak, Broadway: HAIRSPRAY, THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE
Even when I feel pretty good about what I’m doing with a piece, I inevitably come out feeling far better after working with Graham. His combination of smarts, spot on instincts, classical background, top notch training, and years of varied experience, make him the ideal coach – one whose input and guidance I can trust. With the utmost honesty and respect, Graham guides me and evokes my best work without ever being overbearing.
    Roxana Brusso, Recurring: SOUTHLAND, TOUCH
I believe it was his way of helping one really find that character within yourself and the emotional steps needed to take you there not only in speech but in body too, when they come together you nail it! What has stuck with me the most and has good reason was Graham saying “you have to go in and nail your audition down from start to finish” and that’s what I did! All my scenes are with the 2 lead actors. Again my thanks to Graham.
    Paul Boyle, SUPERNATURAL
Graham broke down the essential parts of believable acting into tiny pieces, then allowed me to build them back up again on my own so that it all makes sense to me, making it a snap to continue improving on my own. I saw a definitive improvement in just four weeks. There is nothing fake about it. He teaches you how to make it real and how to make it last and there is no acting mumbo jumbo about it. It just all makes sense.
    Noelle Christie
Learning from Graham was some of the best money I’ve ever spent on a class. He has a knack for making concepts clear and easy to understand and helps guide you through the work. Most of my script analysis work comes from what he taught me. “Be extremely specific with your choices:” this was something I had heard a lot but Graham showed me how to do that.
    Isaac Keoughan
Graham Shiels is an amazing teacher and coach. This is not because he is an expert in his craft–even though he is–it’s because he takes the time and listens to each of his students in order to modify his techniques to create a break through for each individual’s work. I experienced this through his coaching and his direction given towards other students looking to hone their own craft. Thanks Graham for all your help.

My son has been coaching with Alexia Robinson for many years and has booked major network shows and films under her guidance. The extra attention and detail that she gives to him during his private coaching sessions is unsurpassed. It enables him to be able to take his audition to the next level, which leads to more bookings. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to set their child apart from the rest.

I continue to apply the training you so generously shared with me when I trained at Alexia Robinson Studio, and it has been leaps and bounds above even what my college professors were able to deliver. Even with the training I do personally with clients, I am passing along your methods and inspiration. We never fully arrive! Thank you for contributing to my successes!!!

I'm so honored to work with Alexia Robinson, she truly broke down my walls that I tend to put up and truly experience the beauty of being vulnerable. It's almost therapeutic. Just from a few sessions, I got so much great feedback from casting directors and future acting jobs. I'm excited to see what the future brings with such a beautiful being like Alexia on my team.

My daughter, Tess Aubert, had the great opportunity to work with both Alexia Robinson and Stephanie. She learned so much from these wonderful teachers. Alexia and Stephanie know what they're doing. They are the experts when it comes to on camera acting. They focused a lot on relaxation and the characters' background. Alexia and Stephanie are not only good teachers. They are also very encouraging. My daughter cannot wait to do more work with them. We are so thrilled we were able to coach via webcam as well.

But if you ask Twinkie, she’ll tell you its ALL casting. Whether populating commercials, music videos, TV series or feature films, Twinkie is all about finding the right fit to every role. And her passion for talent is only paralleled by her passion for life. From her first gig scouting dancers for Def Comedy Jam in New York, Twinkie “Just did it”. She went on to cast music videos for Brett Ratner and then hit Los Angeles to learn from commercial casting goddess Megan Foley. Without so much as a local phone, Twinkie found a way to book sessions using the payphone down the block from her brothers’ couch (where she crashed for her first three months in LA). Anyone who has watched Twinkie work knows true talent, passion, and bliss for life itself. Top Acting Coach

Since opening his first acting studio in 1989, Andrew Benne continues to be an extremely active force in Hollywood, coaching an impressive list of working actors for nearly two decades. Branching out on his own a year later, he opened the celebrated Moment to Moment Studio in the heart of Hollywood, where, as Artistic Director for ten years, he developed and refined his own personal acting technique. The groundbreaking result - which he has come to call "The Work" - has been taught to hundreds of students over the years, a high percentage of whom have gone on to become successful working actors. In 1999 Andrew was asked to teach The Work at several noted universities. He subsequently taught the Meisner technique at the New York Film Academy, and served on the faculty at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts Hollywood during its inaugural year. In 2001 he opened The Andrew Benne Studio, his third working studio, in a thirty-five seat Equity-waiver theater in the newly-established NoHo Arts District, where he continues to offer a variety of classes for both beginning students as well as seasoned actors. An actor and director in his own right, Andrew has appeared in several films and television shows and numerous commercials, and has directed several Equity-waiver hits and has won a Dramalogue award and an L.A. Weekly Critics Choice award. In addition to acting, directing and teaching, Andrew is currently working on a book of his work. Actor Reviews

Andrew Benne is amazing. He was one of my first teachers/coaches in Los Angeles and I learned so much from him. He taught me so much about being in the moment and challenged the heck out of me - which I so appreciated! His method of teaching really forces you to make really strong, specific decisions and that has helped me so much in my career. I highly recommend his classes/coaching to any actor...and have recommended him on many occasions! If you want to take your work to the next level, he is your man.
    Mara Marini
I learned a great deal from him as an actor, he was a great friend, he provided me with a space where I could practice my craft, and hone my skills as an actor. One of the most important things I learned from him was that I should trust myself, that I am enough. If you take his class, you will know what I mean!
    Iqbal Theba
I learned in Andrew's class is to be specific, connected and trust my instincts. Thanks Andrew!"
    Sarah Wright
Andrew Benne has a tireless passion for finding the truth in acting. His commitment and dedication to the process has been invaluable to me.
    Eric Close
I never considered myself a real actor. That is, until I became one in Andrew Benne’s class. Having had a career as an actress and host in front of the camera, and a writer/producer behind the camera for almost 20 years now, I believe Andrew has helped me prepare for any creative project that has come my way. Whether it be replacing a cast member in a movie with 2 hours notice, prepping for a role that scared the **** outta me, taking the stage to demand the attention of a rowdy charity event crowd, successfully surviving reality TV, or engaging and interviewing all kinds of people from all over the world – even the downright bizarre ones – what I learned in Andrew’s acting class has been invaluable. With no nonsense exercises like Raw Moments (don’t worry you don’t have to breathe through your eyelids or “be a tree” or other such nonsense) I discovered how to be present, listen and react wholeheartedly, in any situation, using my own truth. Andrew’s scene study teachings helped me further my skills of breaking down a script and making a character my own. Not just making choices on paper and in my head, using my well played out tricks, but actually translating all the “homework” into honest action …into acting. Anyone wanting to dive in 100% to be the best actor they can be will benefit from having Andrew Benne on their team
    Kira Reed Lorsch
I have over 65 major acting credits in tv and film the last 15 years of my acting career..But i had no idea how to really act until I wandered into Andrews class years ago. I learned so much about myself and gained confidence in my ability as a actor I never had before. I can walk into a audition now with the tools I learned in class and own that room. I don’t care if there is 30 producers and the head of a network in their staring me down. Andrew will free your mind up to become what you want to be…..A working actor.
    Brett Wagner
I don’t even know where to begin. I've known Andrew for nearly 14 years. It would be an understatement to say that I was “lucky” to cross paths with this incredible life force that happens to be the best acting teacher. Ever. First of all, I have no doubt that I would have never deepened my love for the art of acting had it not been under the influence of Andrew’s wisdom, commitment, passion and utter respect for the craft. Moreover, I can confidently say that his guidance and support taught me discipline and focus so that I was able to actually make a living doing it, and with conviction. To study with a teacher with an integrity that matches his talent is one of the most encouraging, humbling and exciting experiences an artist can have. If you really want to do the work, be challenged, have your life changed, your mind blown, if you never want to stop growing or learning – if you really want to be an actor – he’s your guy. If you’re in it for anything else – don’t waste his time.
    April Matson
I began taking class with Andrew back in 2000 and I'm very happy that I did. He gave me the foundation that I still use to this day. He helped me ground myself in the moment and become emotionally free in the scenes I worked on. There are many layers that an actor has and Andrew is a pro when it comes to helping you peel them and expose the raw talent that is within.
    Aaron Perilo
I have had both the pleasure and the honor to study with Mr. Benne for many years in the early to mid 90’s. He has an incredible eye for the truth and demands nothing less from his actors. He himself is a passionate gifted actor and storyteller and through his gift he enables the actor to find the truth moment to moment. He created scenes that would take us out of our heads and force us to deal with what we had in front of us. This was a marvelous foundation to take our work to the next level. It got us living in the imaginary circumstances and dealing with said circumstances in a real and natural way. From here we could apple the same principles to the written script. I have used his techniques time and again for auditions and when I am shooting. I have been very grateful for the amazing tools Mr. Benne has given me and these tools have helped me successfully work and make a living solely as an actress for the past 20 years. The biggest thrill is reporting to set and seeing some of my former classmates working on the same project. I am thrilled that Mr. Benne has returned LA and look forward to coming to his classes once again. One should never stop fine tuning and working on one’s craft if one wants to continue working. I can’t wait to see the next level Mr. Benne will lead me to.

I was a talent agency for over twenty years. I had sent clients to other acting coaches with not much success. In addition to learning how to become better at our craft, we need to have someone to bounce our feelings off of to stay emotionally strong. Many times after a rough audition, we question ourselves and our abilities. Sometimes we have blocks and lulls during the audition and booking process. Sometimes we just need positive support to keep us in the game. Gary helps with all of that and is a strong source of support to all of us in the entertainment field.

    Top Agent

Annie Schwartz was born into the business, her mother a talent manager, and father a producer/director. At the age of 17, Annie began working as an assistant at a boutique talent agency, while she finished high school. Annie learned hands on how to run an office, nurture clients, read material, pitch clients and make deals and discovered a true passion for the process. Since then, Annie has worked as an associate producer at Paramount Studios on a variety of sets, such as Gary Marshall's sitcom "Happy Days". Two years later, she was hired by Nicole David, one of the owners of Triad Artists, which became one of the most powerful agencies of its time. Working with Jenny Delany in the television department, Annie witnessed hands on the start of many of today’s superstars, including, Bruce Willis, Mariska Hargitay, William Hurt, and many more. After working at JS&A for a year and a half, Annie opened up her own agency with a partner. They combined genuine enthusiasm and energy for the business and a similar work ethic and origin was born. Eleven years later, origin has diversified its talent agency. Origin represents actors, producers, writers, directors and hosting, along with reality television shows.         .

Mark is a fantastic producer who is committed to quality product. He is reliable, accessible, down-to-earth, and trustworthy. I've worked with him on a couple of his productions as a guest instructor/performer, and have always been pleased with the way things worked out. What he promised was always exceeded by what he delivered. I can't wait to work with him again.
Allan Trautman - Puppeteer, Teacher and Independent Performing Arts Professional
I'm extremely impressed with Mark's dedication to both art and education. He invited me to do several guest-artist classes in his summer theater program, and each time I was the one who came away inspired. Mark has stayed true to his roots, teaching at a high professional level to community college students with few other opportunities. He constantly develops new programs to further his goals. He is kind, creative, and one of the hardest-working individuals I know.
Joanna Cazden - Voice therapist and coach, singing rehabilitation specialist, vocal wellness advocate
As I write, Mark is back in the Appalachian hills working with the young people he inspires by bringing talented teachers with him for a few weeks each summer. Devoted to them as they are devoted to him, he brings the very best out of youngsters who have little or no background in the dramatic arts. Last summer I witnessed rehearsals and the final performance of a weeklong residential camp he ran for children and teenagers at an area liberal arts college. Part of his strategy was to show them that they too could navigate a campus and aspire to college. Parents, teachers, and friends marveled at the change in his students in one brief week. Year after year he returns, finding and growing talent, and showing for many a way out of poverty. A man to be reckoned with where young people are concerned.

Andy Parks is a great teacher and a lot of fun to work with, especially when it comes to improvisational comedy. He really helped me to open up my inner 'comedian'. I went from just trying to make people laugh to working with my scene partner for more genuine laughter from the audience. He helped me learn how to make more interesting character choices and broaden my views on what a scene was capable of. Not only did this improve many aspects of my acting abilities, not just comedy, but I gained more confidence in myself and my talents. Thanks Andy!

He really knows how to bring out your best! Believe me when I say, you will be forever changed!

I would love to tell all of you how long I've known LaRita Shelby, but she might not like that.:-) So, what I can tell you is that she is intelligent, loving, caring and extremely selfless. I heard her singing at an audition many years ago. She was so incredible, I waited outside of the audition just to meet her. In short, we've been very close friends ever since. Not only is she a great singer, she is an amazing actor!!!! She's one of the best industry experts I know. She can help any actor or singer do incredible work with their auditions!

I had the pleasure of directing actress LaRita Shelby in Judi Ann Mason's A Star Ain't Nothing but a Hole in Heaven when she was only 14 years old. LaRita played the role of a conflicted teen who wanted to seek her purpose in the world and go to college versus staying at home and taking care of aging guardians who took her in when her parents died. At the moment that LaRita auditioned, I knew that she was going to be a force to be reckoned with on stage. LaRita not only brought her character to life with critical acclaim but she brought out the best in her fellow "older" actors with her consummate professionalism. She continues to do this today, while teaching and coaching up and coming actors. I would recommend LaRita Shelby to teach and coach anyone who wants a meteorite career. She learned from the best! (wink).
Karen Moore, Executive Director of the Women's Theatre Festival of Memphis
The first time she showed up to run her group with our kids she was ready for action. The kids that we house are emotionally disturbed youth. They are often the worst of the worst and have been in the system for years, with nowhere left to turn or go. She stepped into the group with a great attitude and had the kids throwing themselves at her to participate in her activities. She taught the kids about Greek tragedy and classical Shakespeare and eventually incorporated contemporary scenes that the kids could relate to. LaRita is already a great educator but gaining her Masters Degree (in Media & Communications Psychology) has made her an even better educator and mentor in my eyes.

If you want a coach who really knows her stuff, Stephanie Aleksanyan is one of the best!
    Jenny Nalbandian
When I look for a great coach, I want someone with a lot of industry knowledge in more areas than just the work. Stephanie has experience across the board from taking a script apart to even image and branding for the actor.
    Marine Devoltyan
Stephanie is excellent in bringing out the details in an actor’s work. Whether it’s for scene study, auditions or cold reading, your piece will be rich and full of life after working with her!
    Sarah T. Lewis
Stephanie's hands-on, 'guiding' method of teaching really makes the actor to think and grow into their own quickly! The way she leads me through character development & scene breakdowns with questions, but without directly suggesting my choices helped me to learn what my own process is as an actor. I highly recommend her for actors of all calibers, especially those beginners who are ready to grow rapidly!
    Sara Hannett, Actor
Sometimes as an actor, it may feel right when I'm doing it only to realize that I overlooked specific details needed to book the job. That is why I refer to Stephanie when I need help with my auditions or particular characters. She's on it!

Stephanie is a great actor and friend. Her calm personality allows you to really trust and let go, whether you're working with her one on one or simply asking advice.
    Scott Cullen, Actor
Stephanie Aleksanyan is a very sweet and knowledgeable person. She's a great listener and gives the best advice when it comes to auditioning. The advice she gives are those you'll live by every time you walk into an audition.
    Kristen Marquez, Actor
My daughter, Tess Aubert, had the great opportunity to work with both Alexia Robinson and Stephanie. She learned so much from these wonderful teachers. Alexia and Stephanie know what they're doing. They are the experts when it comes to on camera acting. They focused a lot on relaxation and the characters' background. Alexia and Stephanie are not only good teachers. They are also very encouraging. My daughter cannot wait to do more work with them. We are so thrilled we were able to coach via webcam as well.

Marissa's knowledge of diet and overall well-being is second to none. Every question I had was met with a thorough yet easy to understand answer. She is a natural in front of the camera and a breeze to edit. Her preparation makes it a joy to work with her.

After getting into a bad work situation that involved an impossible amount of hours, stress and weight gain to match I knew I needed to make a change. I've been following Marissa since she first founded MWAH. I was initially afraid to participate in any of the programs because I didn't think I was a good cook or "had what it took" to make a significant change in my life. Marissa's total reset program makes it easy to get started and make that change. She provides the list of ingredients, recipes, daily inspirational emails, and even some video blogs. I found that cooking for myself every day was stress relieving and gave me a sense of accomplishment that I hadn't felt in a while. I started to feel better about myself almost immediately! The program also pulled me outside my comfort zone. I would have never made a "green smoothie" in my life if it hadn't been for this program and the solid encouragement Marissa provided. Marissa's passion and dedication to not only this program but also in providing/encouraging woman to be as healthy as they can be is clear. I would recommend her to anyone at all who wants to get healthy but doesn't know where to start. I'd also recommend her if you do consider yourself relatively healthy but are ready to take it to the next level.
    Dana Z.
I have always considered myself relatively healthy but once I hit 30 my body started to change. I did a search on nutrition and wellness and started following a few blogs, including "Where I Need to Be". That is how I discovered MWAH! After being an avid follower of this blog for several months I finally decided to invest in my health and hire a health coach, and the obvious selection for me was Marissa of Marissa's Well-being and Health. I felt like I already knew her really well because she is so open about her own journey and it was something I could relate to. What I like most about Marissa is that she's different than other health coaches and nutritionists because her approach is truly holistic and less focused on weight loss. It's more about becoming a healthy person from the inside out, eating whole foods and knowing what is right for my body. Marissa's blog also has a never ending supply of delicious, easy-to-make recipes, tips on how to maintain your energy level naturally, and one of my favorite features is "healthy hot spots" where different restaurants in the city are highlighted and she teaches you how to order healthy options, even if you go to a steak house! MWAH! has helped me restore confidence in the kitchen and continues to be a great resource for inspiration on a daily basis. Marissa is not only my health coach but has now became a very dear and trusted friend.
    Karen B.
After moving away from my healthy, fast-paced life in NYC and having two children, I found myself at my highest weight, surrounded by terrible food choices, and was struggling with time management. I knew Marissa and saw a post for MWAH on FB. I knew I had to do something and thought THIS might be it. I was skeptical going in, thinking I was generally healthy and had the tools just not the time. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. Not only did Marissa help me streamline my days to include healthy meals and workouts, but our bi-monthly meetings were a great way for me to de-stress just by talking out some of my frustrations. Towards the end of my 6 month session with Marissa, my dad passed away unexpectedly. I have to say that her support was imperative to me not backsliding into emotional eating or giving up during a tumultuous time. I really don't think I can appreciate her anymore for helping me tune into myself and create a better, happier, less-stressed mother to my kids.
    Sareh B.

    Actor Reviews

I couldn't have done it without your help, and I would't be where I am today without you, you were the first one to believe in me. Thank you again, I have no words to express my gratitude.
John Anthony Gorman, Actor - Arrow
I've never met Mark, or taken one of his acting classes. I have, however, read all of his blogs. This guy knows what he’s talking about. Many, many actors could be saved by taking a class with him. I've already emailed his website to every actor I know.
Elias Toufexis, Actor - Smallville, Supernatural, The Five People You Meet In Heaven, Assassin's Creed
An actor must invest a great deal of trust in their teachers. The responsibility of the coach is to share knowledge and experience that is genuinely useful to their students. I approached Mark with caution, uncertain whether I would learn anything of value for my work or future ambitions. I was wary of finding a self-proclaimed guru imparting some sort of mysticism to obfuscate their subject or baffle less knowledgeable. I was delighted to find Mark to be a bullshit-free zone.
R Paul Wilson The Real Hustle, The Magicians - Professional Magician
After meeting Mark, I feel that I have gained ‘the icing on the cake’ as some may say. By having a solid ‘TASK’ to do on stage, you are never self conscious, always occupied and interesting to the audience. Mark get’s you ACTING not trying to make sense of theories and motivations that have nothing to do with ME, the actor. Knowledge in understanding a script is essential, but without a way of making it personal, you can never ACT with truth. Thanks Mark!
    Robert Toretto, Page Eight
Mark is a clear communicator about what the process is and what it involves, he has a real authenticity about how he passes on his ideas. He’s confident in his approach, but not at all intimidating. This way of working seems to expose a natural route to performing. It’s beguiling why this isn’t common practice. This just makes a lot of sense as an approach.
Molly Taylor Actor, Writer - Former Associate at the National Theatre of Scotland
Mark Westbrook understands actors, he understands acting. He uses very simple techniques to help actors connect to the script, to each other and to the moment.
Nick Field, Actor - Offshore, The First to Go, Holby City
Mark is a great teacher and the technique is a welcome change to the methods usually taught and practiced in this country. It is good to learn something from the very first stages and progress slowly through the different exercises, putting all the building blocks in place instead of just skimming over things. Mark Westbrook is a valuable resource that I hope to continue learning from for a long time to come
    Brian Ferguson, Black Watch/Drawer Boy/Snuff
Mark’s teaching is a breath of fresh air. He displays a relaxed informality, providing a perfect platform to experience a truly inspiring acting technique.
    Sally Reid, The Wall/Antigone/Sunset Song
Mark has a mind blowing strategy for acting and you have to be prepared to work hard, focus, commit time and energy to studying. This style of working won’t suit everyone and its hard work and the end results have been phenomenal. The performances I have seen have been mind blowing & so natural and that’s how I want to perform. Mark has the passion, drive & enthusiasm to bring out the best in all his students. He cares about you and wants you to succeed, you are not just another random face coming through his door. Mark is not like the other coaches Ive trained with who are in it just for the money. He is genuine and honest and has dedicated most of his life to acting and you can’t get much better than that. Mark is well worth every penny, and in my eyes he’s the best Coach in Scotland. Why would I want to go anywhere else!?
    Pamela Gladstone, A-Z Improv
During one of my first classes with ACS, Mark said “I don’t know whether you are here for fun or you want to be a professional working Actor, I will do everything in my power to help you get where you want to be” Initially I was surprised by the confidence in his statement. However, I have learnt that instead of babysitting his students, Mark motivates and inspires us daily to create opportunities for ourselves. He teaches that with hard work, enthusiasm and practice, you can get yourself to wherever you want to be.
    Shona Denovan
Mark gives you everything you need to be the best actor you can. He doesn’t mess around with any fake bullshit, his teaching allows you to be right there in the moment, and bring your most truthful performance. Being the first acting coach i have ever worked with, I feel lucky that I found Mark because of his vast knowledge and passion for acting. Also his constant support makes me feel like the acting world is for the taking.
    Mark Delaney
Mark will help you to become a more focused, disciplined and above all, a more truthful actor.
    Simon McCay
I learned the 2 most important things are the script and the other actor. The way that Mark teaches pushes you for the truth in every single moment; it gives what you are doing endless possibilities.
Bobby Rainsbury, Regular on River City

Jeannine Fisher is excellent at casting. She casted Gary Levingston's "For Colored Girls Who Committed Suicide When the Rainbow Was Enuf" Stage Play last summer and it has been nominated for an award this year. She is very professional and follows through immediately with any issues. I worked as the Director's Assistant and was able to see her handle tense situations with grace and ease. She was at every show to offer support. I highly recommend Ms. Fisher.

Kim Yarbrough is a triple threat of equally amazing talent. She is a singer, actress, and professional violinist. With all of these skills she has a great ability to teach as well. I do not hesitate to recommend Kim for voice, violin and acting coaching because she not only teaches it, she is actively working in these areas.
